I ended up installing a couple of motion sensor floodlights on the inside walls of our garage. One is pointed at the exterior walk-in door, the other at the overhead garage door. Lights come on when someone opens the walk-in door or drives in the garage. We have a rear entrance to the garage in our house, but there’s no light switch by the entrance door, so you either have to leave the light switch on all the time, or stumble around until you find the kitchen door.
