Bathroom remodel update
Well, this post is almost three weeks overdue!: The bathroom remodel is 98% finished….and we have been using the bathroom for several weeks now.
All that’s left is that the sink faucet we want is on back-order. It would seem that I ordered the wrong one to begin with (hadn’t realized we were getting a sink that needed 8-inch centers). So, we returned the first faucet and ordered the correct one, only to find that it would be 45 to 60 days until it was available.
So, we went to Lowe’s and purchased a faucet to use in the meantime.
Because of this, I haven’t taken any photos of the bathroom yet, but it is OH SO GOOD to finally be able to take a shower somewhere OTHER than the basement!
And I don’t care what the Federal Government says about saving water and standards for low-flow this-and-that. When I take a shower I want lots of water spraying down on me! So, I’m very happy with our “rain” showerhead.
I do have two photos that I wanted to show you: This is how the pedestal for the sink looked after we decided to try to “make it fit” by sawing a pie-piece out of it.
So, once the new faucet comes in, we have to call the plumber back and pay him to take out the old one and put in the new one.
So what’s next after this?
Well, we’ve got some carpeting and stair-runner needs. But our BIGGER priority is our asphalt driveway. It’s in pretty sad shape. I’m afraid to get estimates. The cost is gonna be high. And we used credit / debt for a lot of THIS project, so I’m certainly not ready to take on another huge chunk.
However, we’re theoretically a part of the city’s 353 tax abatement program. And I probably need to spend another $6000 more by December 2011 in order to finish the qualifications… and thereby get our property taxes for the house abated for the next 25 years (100% for first 10 years, 50% for the following 15 years, I believe).
And the driveway DOES need to be replaced. It’s in too sorry shape in some areas for just repairs, I think.
But Terry needs a new car as well and my truck is rusting faster and faster each day.
How on earth can anybody afford to take care of a house and two cars?
Thanks for stopping by!
