I’m like REALLY short on time here right now. Gotta run.

But I just finished uploading and describing a bunch of photos of our completed bathroom remodel.

Oh, what fun a bathroom remodel can be! Two unexpected hurdles

Well, it’s high time I posted an update about how our bathroom remodel is going. I’m sure if you asked my wife, she’d have expected it to be all over with about two weeks ago.

However, we encountered two unexpected surprises:

1) “Honey, what’s that dripping sound coming from the TV ?” — One Friday (was it two or three weeks ago?), Terry and I had been out all afternoon, shopping. Now, I had always said this bathroom remodel was MY project. I urged her to keep her nose out of it. This was in “fair retaliation” for the fact that she had been completely in-charge of our kitchen remodel a few years ago. But …

Garage reorg….and revealing the clawfoot tub…

Greetings All!

Sorry it’s been so long since I last posted. I did a LOT of planning in the last few months for my wife’s 50th birthday party, which was June 7th. We had about 70 guests to that party… so that tells you how much planning it took to pull off. And now, following that, we don’t have enough money to do much of anything on the house right now, other than take better care of what we already have… and sell off what we don’t need.

GARAGE CLEANING
I’m especially proud that I recently took a solid day-and-a-half to totally clean and reorganize the garage (which we haven’t been able to park a vehicle in for two …

Good news / bad news: We won an award, but had to shell out $$ to a plumber

Greetings All !

At the end of last week, we had some good news come in, but then had some bad news that resulted in me paying a plumber an outrageous sum.

First, the good news: I had submitted our house’s exterior renovation project to the City of Independence’s Heritage Commission for their annual W.Z. Hickman Preservation Awards. We received word “through-the-grapevine” last week that we had won! And, sure enough, we received the official letter about it on Monday. My wife will have to accept the award (as I will be working) at the City Council meeting on May 5th!

I should also mention that our neighborhood association, the “Neighbors of Winner Road Association” (www.winnerneighbors.org) also applied …

Recent Problems (Plumbing and Garbage Disposal)

Filed under: Plumbing — Admin @ 10:37 am

Greetings All !

I’m a few days behind in posting this.  But, for the record, I wanted to report two “honey-do’s” that I had to tackle last week:

1)  Garbage Disposal clogs — We had two recent events with the garbage disposal stopping on us.  The first was resolved with a quick press of the reset switch at the bottom of the unit.  My wife swore that she tried that.  Well, I manually rotated the blades around a bit before trying.  Maybe that had something to do with why the reset switch worked for me and not her.

But with the second incident, the reset switch wouldn’t do anything.  I heard the low hum of the motor when I flipped the switch, but …
