Thanks, Neal!

That stove is from Elmira Stoveworks. I believe they are out of Canada, but they have distributors here in the U.S. And yes, it is a reproduction. It has electronic controls behind the top red panel. And the surface of the cooktop is flat / glass with the heating elements underneath it and control knobs on the side.

Darned stove cost us more than my pickup truck! (Total cost of stove = about $5000)

My wife said that was the one extravagant thing she wanted to get, once we moved into this house. So, I went to their website, where you could design your own stove (and get a ballpark figure quote, I believe).

From there, I decided to search Ebay and see if anybody was selling these stoves. It turns out, one of their distributors, which is based in Florida, was selling them and had a high feedback rating. So, I emailed them. They were very nice and basically told me if I submitted to them the specs of what I had built on the Elmira website, they would give me a quote. And they said they'd be lower than the website and would also be lower than any other distributor I could find.

So, I ordered from them. They had it shipped here on a semi trailer. Two guys unloaded it and brought it into our kitchen. And there it has been ever since.

We've had only one issue with it... which was a case where, following some sort of power surge, the digital clock / timer was flickering like crazy. I emailed the Ebay rep. He forwarded me to support. Support emailed and suggested I unplug it for a while and then plug it back in. This worked!

The stove is now about 5 years old. It's got a bit of wear on the finish in the sense that there are some spots here and there on the chrome that I can't seem to get out completely. And the cooktop shows some light rings, as if somebody'd let some water dry on it.

The only other mild complaint I have is that I have to be careful to use pots with fairly-large bottoms. The bottoms have to be larger than the heat rings on the stove. Sometimes, a pot will look like it will be a "close fit". But it's not good enough. You can tell, because you'll see the red light of the heat element underneath fire up, then die down, and cycle like that repeatedly, which means it takes forever for anything to heat up that way.

But that's really a minor thing.

If anybody who reads this is interested in one, I would strongly recommend getting one with the little "warmer box" on the right! That has come in-handy many, many times! It's worth the few extra dollars.

I'll be sure to let my wife know that you liked her stove! She's very proud of that thing. (Though, she admits, that I'm the one who uses it the most. This time of year, I'm the one baking pies and Christmas cookies!)

Thanks!
