New Roof Gets Completed !!
Today was a grand day!
ABS Home Services, commanded by Brad Sellmeyer, finished replacing the roof of our house and the roof of our garage! As I mentioned earlier in this blog, they also reinforced the rafters in both the attic and the garage too. The garage just needed a bit more support so that the roofers were safe. The attic needed this too, but we decided to take it a step further and double-up on the rafters… plus get some framing put in for some footer walls… in order to prepare for later finishing-off of the attic space.
The only one glitch that popped up was with the gutter system surrounding the back sun-porch. For some reason, the gutters were installed with a metal strip coming down into them from above. However, there is NO FACIA BOARD behind this metal strip. Therefore, birds, animals, and water can get back up into the space behind the gutters. Not good. Brad recommended we get that fixed sometime soon (like, within the next year).
Other than that, we’re happy with Brad’s work. It took basically 2.5 days to do the both roofs. And then there was the extra two days for reinforcement. Total cost for everything: $8200, I don’t mind saying. $6000 was for the roofs, plus garage reinforcement… $2200 for the attic reinforcement.
We chose a 30-year Timberline shingle in a forest-green color. As soon as I get a chance, I’ll post some photos to the gallery here.
